Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following vacancy. All appointments are to Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board but candidates will be assigned in the first instance to the school listed below during the 2025/2026 session. A panel may also be formed for other vacancies that may arise in Saplings School Mullingar during the 2025/2026 session.

Saplings School Mullingar is a child centred evidenced based school, whose aim is to provide an optimal education for students with Autism and additional complex needs.

There are 36 pupils in the school, 18 of whom are participating in L1LP (Junior Cycle Level 1) & SCL1LP (Senior Cycle Level 1). Saplings School Mullingar is looking for someone who is energetic, creative, flexible and caring to join our team.

The 18 students range in age and abilities from 12 – 18 years. Each student has their unique learning style and maximising their ultimate potential is central to the schools’ beliefs. Many of the students have a particular flair for art and design and further developing and growing these lifelong leisure skills is Sapling Schools Mullingar objective.

Previous teaching experience in a special education setting and knowledge of primary curriculum would be desirable.
